My Favorite DJs

This blog will be quite different, because I typically don't talk about EDM, or electronic dance music, often. This will be a list of some of my favorite EDM artists.

1. Martin Garrix
Martijn Gerard Garritsen, or better known as Martin Garrix, is a DJ from the Netherlands. He is one of the most successful young DJs in the world. He is nineteen years old and his birthday is on May 14, which is in seven days! He was first interested in becoming a DJ after he saw TiĆ«sto perform at the Olympics in 2004. He was the closing act at this year's Ultra Music Festival, which is a super big electronic music festival that happens every year all around the world. The main location of this festival is in Miami, Florida, but it's also located in Spain, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Columbia, and a lot more. One of his most popular songs is "Animals." Here's some songs that I like from him:

  • "Now That I've Found You" (feat. John & Michel)
  • "Hold On Never Leave" (feat. Avicii)
  • "Poison"
  • "Name of Love" (feat. Bebe Rexha and ID)
  • "Lions in the Wild" (feat. John Martin)
2. Calvin Harris
Adam Richard Wiles, or better known as Calvin Harris, is a Dj from Scotland. I'm pretty sure most of you have heard one of his songs and if not, maybe at least his name. He is one of the most popular Djs in the world, and he's also dating Taylor Swift. Here are some of my favorite songs from him:

  • "This Is What You Came For" (feat. Rihanna)
  • "Summer"
  • "Outside" (feat. Ellie Goulding)
  • "Under Control" (feat. Hurts and Alesso)
  • "Pray to God" (feat. HAIM)
3. Zedd

Anton Zaslavski, who is better known as Zedd, is a Russian-German DJ. Zedd's most known song is called "Clarity," which features Foxes. Here are some songs I enjoy listening from him:
  • "I Want You To Know" (feat. Selena Gomez)
  • "Candyman" (feat Aloe Blacc)
  • "Papercut" (feat. Troye Sivan)
  • "Done With Love"
  • "Lost At Sea"

Got7 U.S Tour & Ticket Info.

I am super excited today because one of my favorite K-Pop groups named Got7 is having a U.S. Tour and tickets go on sale tomorrow! I saw them once at KCON 2015, but they're coming back here to LA for a solo concert. I'm just going to briefly explain who Got7 is and what KCON is because I have two other blogs that go into depth about both topics. Got7 is a seven member Korean boy band that is under JYP Entertainment. They are super popular and they have a lot of fans around the world. KCON is a yearly concert/convention where Korean music fans can share their love for K-Pop with other people. You can also enjoy concerts that include the K-Pop stars themselves. The first year of KCON started in Los Angeles, and now it has spread to New York, Japan, France, Abu Dhabi, and of course, South Korea. In case if you guys are a fan and would like to know more information about their concert, tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m. Got7 will also be heading to Grand Prairie, Texas, Chicago, Illinois, New York, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia. The concert in Texas is on July 1,2016. The concert in Illinois will be on July 3, 2016. New York's concert will be on July 5, 2016. The concert in Georgia will be on July 8,2016. The last stop for "Fly in USA" is in Los Angeles on July 10,2016. Even though this was a little rant, I hope that maybe you guys can check out their music and if you are a fan like I am, I hope that you'll be able to go their concert!

Third Street Promenade & USC

Credits: lax-magazine.com
A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I haven't been there in quite a while so it was exciting to go back. The first store we went to was Abercrombie & Fitch. The Abercrombie & Fitch store there has two levels. The first floor is the women section, while the second floor is the men's section. What's nice is that this store's fashion is different from the mall's store. I personally think that the Abercrombie & Fitch in Santa Monica carry nicer things. The second store was Lucky Brand. I saw this really nice jean jacket there, but sadly, I did not end up buying that. We also stopped by at Foot Locker because my brother wanted to check out some shoes. We went to some other stores that I can't remember the names. For lunch, we ate at Steak & Shake. That place has amazing fries!! Overall, the day was really nice.

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a student tour at the University of Southern California(USC.) Even though the tour only lasted for a couple of hours, it felt like I was sort of part of the "Trojan life" and it felt like a was a student there. Students there have a lot of school spirit. Throughout the whole tour, they'd always say "Fight on!" to their friends that passed by or other tours. I really enjoyed this school and the environment was really nice. My sister actually got admitted into USC and if the price of the tuition is not too expensive, she'll end up going there.  #trojanlife

Vacation Spots I Have Been To

This blog is going to be about all the places I have visited outside California. Whether I've been their a week ago or three years ago, I'm still going to talk about it because I still have all the memories in my head. I've actually traveled outside the U.S more than travelling inside. Anyways, here's the list of the places I have been to outside of California!

  • Places
Nevada, Mazatlan, Bahamas, Belize, Orcho Rios(Jamaica), St. Thomas, St. Martin/ St. Maarten, Mahogany Bay Roatan, Cayman Islands, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Fort Laderdale, Orlando, South Korea, Key West, Macau, Texas, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, and Cozumel.

Favorite Places
Dunn's River Falls
-Jamaica: This was one of the stops when my family and I went on a cruise. One thing that I will always remember Dunn's River Falls, where you can climb/hike a waterfall. Also, we tried this fruit there(I can't remember the name,) and you can't find it here in the US, or not that I know of.
-Bahamas: In the Caribbean, the color of the ocean is clear blue. It's so pretty there and the sand is white. We went to the beach and we also went to Atlantis. Also, go to Diamonds International. You can only find that store in the Caribbean.
-Belize: My family and I got to see the Mayan Temples there. There was a mock Mayan Temple there where my brother and I climbed all the way to the top and came back down. You can only go up to a certain point at the real Mayan Temples because they are really old and quite fragile, so it could possibly break.
-Hong Kong: There are so many things to do Hong Kong. Honestly, if you ever get to go there, try their beef jerky, it's amazing! Also, there's so many shopping centers there and stores are really up to date with fashion. The food and the desserts are so delicious. One thing I recommend is to eat dim sum in the morning at least once. Dim sum over in China is way different than the places here.
The view of  Hong Kong from The Peak
-Mahogany Bay: There's actually not that much to do here except for going to the beach. If I ever get to go there again, I really want to try zip lining there. I got a jewelry box made out of wood and carved with flowers on the top with my name and year I visited on the inside.

All of these vacation spots were amazing and I will never forget them!

Hong Kong Becoming Under British Rule

This is different than what I would normally write, but I thought the story how Hong Kong became under British rule was very interesting. This was the story my class read about at my Saturday Chinese school a couple of weeks ago.

China was a country that exported goods to different countries. For example, they exported silk, gun powder, porcelain, and more. Later on, Europe imported more goods from China and  it increased every year. Though, China didn't need to import goods from Europe, until the eighteenth century. The British found out that Chinese people enjoyed smoking opium more than tobacco at that time. Though, they didn't know that opium was horrible for their bodies. The British planted lots of opium plants in India, and sold it to China. They sold it at a very cheap price and once the Chinese got addicted to it, the price raised. The British were making a lot of money from this. When the Chinese government finally realized that opium was bad for them, they banned the British from selling it, but the British ignored their command. They continued to ship opium to China secretly. In 1839, a Chinese official named Lin Zexu, destroyed over 20,000 cases of opium. The British government soon found out and were very angry, so they decided to attack China. At that time, China's army wasn't that powerful and was defeated by the British. The Chinese ended up giving a lot of money to Britain as well as Hong Kong. They also had to agree that the British could sell opium to China. This  made China suffer for over 100 years.

Got7 "Fly" Music Video

Today Got7's new album "Flight Log: Departure" came out and the music video for "Fly" is amazing! I read some of the comments on the music video, and some people were quite confused with what's going on at the end, so I thought, why don't I clear it up? This is all opinionated, so I might not be correct on everything. If you watch the music video, at around 2:07, you see Jr. getting ready to jump off of the building. Following that is all the members one by one flying (hence the title of the music video.) At around 2:27, he's falling off the building and trying to fly like the other members but he can't. That's why you see all the other members smiling or at least happy, but he's not. While he's falling down the building, he's looking at his friends who can fly, but he can't. At around 3:03, you can see that the camera zoomed on his face so you can see the tear. At 3:07, Jr. is putting out both of his hands. Maybe he's trying to tell his other friends to help save him? Remember, he doesn't have the ability to fly, unlike the other members. At 3:16, it shows his face, which seems very pale, and that can't be a good sign. Maybe he's dying? This is where I'm quite confused. Again, the dying part is all my opinion, so if you go on another website, it might say something different. If you look at the track list, you notice that the song "Home Run" will be released later on in April. A lot of fans are wondering why it's being released later. I'm thinking that "Home Run" will be a continuation of "Fly," but I'm not sure. I guess we'll just have to wait for "Home Run" to come out and then maybe everything will sense.

K-Dramas

Today, I will be talking about the Korean dramas that I'm currently watching. It's definitely different than what I usually write, but hey, it has something to do with Korean culture, so why not?

High End Crush main roles
1. "High End Crush"
I actually just started watching this drama. My sister watched it and said it was a really good drama so I'm super excited. I also heard a lot of good reviews and the rating is high for this drama. Also, I really like the person who is acting the male main role. His name is Jung Il Woo. I'm hoping that this drama turns out well!
Moorim School(some of the cast)

2. "Moorim School"
I love everything about this drama. There are sixteen episodes I believe, and I'm on the fourteenth, and I'm still really enjoying it. I love the whole cast in there, especially Lee Hyun Woo. I would recommend this drama to people who don't mind the plot story moving quite slow. The director definitely extended things, which I thought was unnecessary. Also, plot twists occur in the drama and a lot of cliffhangers. If you put those bad things on the side, you'll enjoy the drama as much as I am. Basically, expect the unexpected.

3. "Running Man"
Running Man Cast(without guests)
Running man is not a Korean drama, but it is a Korean variety show. There are always different guests (singers, actors, etc.) every week. If I'm having a bad day, I will most likely watch an episode of "Running Man" and I'll be all better after. Some episodes are funnier than others. "Running Man" is one of the most popular Korean variety shows, and it's been going on since 2010. I definitely recommend this to everyone!

These are all the Korean dramas that I'm currently watching and I'm keeping up with them regularly. For my next blog, I might make a list of my all time favorite K-dramas and variety shows maybe? I also might talk about dramas that I've finished. Thanks for reading!

Daily Dose Of Music

This blog will be continuation of some of my favorite songs. Hope you enjoy!

"I Took A Pill In Ibiza" (Seeb Remix) - Mike Posner
Taemin
I was never really a big fan of Mike Posner, but this is a song from him that I really like. The beat is funky, and maybe that's why it's catchy to me?

"Press Your Number" - Taemin
Yes! I incorporated a k-pop song in this! Taemin's new solo album is amazing in my opinion. He filmed in LA. What really frustrated me was that in his highlight medley (which you can watch on YouTube), one of the places he filmed was about five minutes away from my house!! If I could see him that day he filmed, that would be so cool.

"Like I Would" - ZAYN
Instgram: @zayn
Yeah, I was sad when Zayn left One Direction.  Though, the music he releases now as a solo artist is stunning. I love "Pillowtalk" and I adore this song as well.

Troye Sivan
"Youth" - Troye Sivan
Instagram: @troyesivan
As you guys may or may not know, I was a fan of Troye Sivan back in his YouTube days when he didn't release music but posted covers on YouTube. I supported his first album when it was released and I still support him and his decisions. A couple of weeks ago, I did obsess about the song "Fools," and I still listen to that song a lot.

Favorite Stores

This blog will be different than what I usually write. This blog is about some of my favorite stores I like to shop at.

1. Abercrombie & Fitch
I really like the designs and fashion there. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the quality of the clothing is way different than a $10 shirt from Forever 21, no offense. During the winter, they come out with really nice jackets/parkas. To be honest, I really like the atmosphere in the store. It stands out because all other stores and bright and then the lighting in this store is quite dark. Once you walk in, you immediately smell the cologne. Some people may think the cologne is super strong, but in my opinion, I think it smells really good and I like it a lot. This is one of my favorite stores I always check out when I'm at the mall.

2. PacSun
This is also one of my favorite stores I like to go to when I'm at the mall or an outlet that has PacSun. Again, the material is different than cheaper stores because this store is also quite on the expensive side. They have a brand that they sell called LA Hearts, and I love it. They a lot of nice tops. Their jeans are also super comfortable, and they have a lot of different colors that you can get.

3. Hollister
For Hollister, sometimes their things are super nice, and other times they're okay, not the best. I buy a lot of sweatshirts and shirts from there. I have this blue and pink all-season jacket that's waterproof and I love it so much! It's super warm and its comfortable. Overall, I really like this store a lot.

4. Brandy Melville
I really like the shirts and jackets from Brandy Melville. A couple of weeks ago, my sister bought this black suede moto jacket, and I love it! It has fur on the inside, which makes it super comfortable and warm.  I also really like the setting of the shop. Overall, it's really nice shopping there.

These shops are just some of my favorite stores, I didn't name all of them. Thanks for reading my blog!

Places I'd Like To Visit

To be honest, I didn't really know what to write about. Though, since my blog is about vacations and I love to travel, I thought why don't I write about the places I would like to go that I haven't before! So, here's a couple of places that I would like to visit in the future.

London
London
I'm not going to lie, but I think any city in the UK would be fun to go to. Though, I've always had a liking for London. For example, I would like to see the London Eye, Big Ben, and of course Buckingham Palace. Also, fashion there is different than the U.S... which will probably mean I'll spend a lot of money on shopping. London is one of the places I'd love to go in the future.

Paris
Eiffel Tower
Ah yes, "the city of love" as what everyone says. Of course, I'd love to visit the iconic Eiffel Tower. Though, obviously language would be a problem because I don't speak French, but who cares? I'm still going to enjoy being there if I go there in the future.

Greece
Greece, and the scenery there is beautiful. Any city there would be nice to visit. The food there though!! In the future, I'd love to do a tour in Europe where I visit a lot of places there.

Croatia
Greece
Have you seen pictures of the beach there? Honestly, it looks like the beaches in the Caribbean, and yes, I've been to the Caribbean. For example, I've been to the Bahamas, Mahogany Bay, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Haiti, and more. The water there is clear blue. Compared to what the beaches look here, no offense, but it looks like trash. So, this would be a nice place to go and visit.

Croatia
These are just some of the places I'd like to visit when I'm older. Hope you guys enjoyed reading my blog!

Continuing On...

This week's blog will continue on from my last blog, "New Favorites." Again, not all these songs are new. Let's begin!

"Electric Love"- Borns
This song is super catchy. Again, this song isn't new, but I've recently listened to this song a lot. The song might be weird when you hear it at first, but then it grows on you.

"Little More"- Chris Brown
His album "Royalty" is one of the best!I love most of the songs on there. This song has quite a deep meaning, and the music video feats his daughter. I think it's super cute that he named his album after his daughter's name.

"Nocturnal"- Disclosure
I've actually been trying to find this song for a while because I hear it all the time at the mall. I've finally found it around two weeks ago or something like that. The Weeknd is also in it and I love the song.

"Fools"- Troye Sivan
I've been a fan of Troye Sivan for definitely quite a while now. I've watched his videos on YouTube and I've supported him when he released his first album. It's just really cool to see him progress throughout the years from singing on YouTube and then actually getting a record deal.

"7 Years"- Lukas Graham
The lyrics to this song are amazing and meaningful. Usually songs these day don't have meaningful lyrics and they talk about alcohol and other bad things. This song, I'm definitely in love with!

Well, this is all for this week's blog. Thank you guys for reading!

New Favorites

This week's blog will be a bit different. This blog will be about newly released songs or bands that I've grown interest in. Some songs might be a couple of months old. Obviously, I'm not going to put every song or band, because then, this blog would be very very long. Let's get started!!

1. "Pillowtalk" - Zayn
Yes, I'm obsessed with this song ever since it was released. The rhythm is just so catchy. This single is amazing, and I can't wait to see other music that he releases. If you haven't checked this song out yet, I suggest you do.

2. "Stressed Out" - Twenty One Pilots
To be honest, I don't think I've checked out one of twenty one pilot's song till now. Though, this song is great. I feel like this song can relate to a lot of people because I feel like everyone is stressed out at some point.

3. "Low Life" - Future ft. The Weeknd
Future's album "EVOL," which includes this song, actually was released yesterday. I  like a lot of songs that are by or featured with The Weeknd, and this is one song that is catchy to me.

4. "Me, Myself & I" - G-Eazy & Bebe Rexha
I actually do like a couple of songs from G-Eazy, not including "Me, Myself & I." For example, I like the song "I Mean It." G-Eazy did a really good job with this song, and it's super catchy.

5. "Adventure of a Lifetime" - Coldplay
As I said in my previous blog, I've been a fan of Coldplay since 2008, when "Viva La Vida" came out. He's been making music for quite a while already, and he's still popular. He's actually going to have a concert at the Rose Bowl. Overall, I love his music.

These are some new songs that I absolutely love. I might continue this list for my next blog post. Hope you enjoyed reading!

Things I'm Excited For...

This week's blog will be a little different. Today, I'll be talking about some things that I am excited for.

Kcon 2016
Kcon 2015
For people who don't know what kcon is, it is an annual k-pop convention/concert. K-pop stars from South Korea are invited to perform for foreign fans. For example, a couple of weeks ago, I wrote about going to kcon 2015. It was a three day convention and concert and it was held at Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention Center. I can't wait to see this year's lineup, because I might go again!

Upcoming Concerts
There are a lot of upcoming concerts that I'm excited about, even though I may not go. One concert is Selena Gomez. I love her new album "Revival," and I'd love to see her at Staples, but i probably won't go. Another concert is Justin Bieber. I know...he may have done some crazy things in the past, but his new album "Purpose" is on a whole other level! For example, the songs "Love Yourself," "What Do You Mean," "Sorry," "Purpose," and basically a whole bunch of other songs on his new album are so catchy and I really like them. The last concert that I'm going to be talking about, even though there is plenty of more, is Coldplay. I've been a fan of Coldplay since around 2008, when "Viva la Vida" came out. It's surprising to see that seven years have gone by and Coldplay is still pretty popular and making new music.

Wango Tango & Coachella
The last thing I'm going to be talking about today is Wango Tango and Coachella. On Friday, January 29, Zayn released his first single "Pillowtalk," and the song is so catchy and amazing. He's part of the lineup for Wango Tango along with other artists like Calvin Harris, Kanye West, and more. I never really keep up with Coachella's lineup, but this year has a lot of great artists. Also, this is the first year that a Korean group, which is Epik High,  will perform there. Some artists that I personally like that will be there are G-Eazy, Disclosure, Zedd, Sia, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, and more.

So, these are some things that I'm excited for. Hope you enjoy readying my blog!

UC Berkeley

A while ago, I went to Berkeley, California to visit UC Berkeley for a tour of the school. When we walked in to where the tour was meeting up, we passed by Sather Gate. Sather Gate is a landmark which leads to the center of UC Berkeley.
Sather Gate
We also walked past the Sather Tower, which is UC Berkeley's most recognizable symbol. "It is more commonly known as THe Campanile due to its resemblance to the Campanile di San Marco in Venice." The tower is 307 feet tall or 93.6 meters tall. It is the third tallest bell and clock tower in the world. The bells on the Sather Tower range from small 19 pound bells to the 10,500 pound "Great Bear Bell."
Sather Tower
The Doe Memorial Library is the main library in UC Berkeley. This four story structure consists of 52 miles of bookshelves. Some of Berkeley's most prized collections are in this library.
This is how the Doe Memorial Library looks outside and inside.
Overall, it was super cool to see how the school looked like. UC Berkeley is one of the schools that I would like to go to for college.

Las Vegas

During winter break, I went to Las Vegas for Christmas. We left on December 25 at around 7:30 in the morning and got to the hotel at around 12:00 in the afternoon. After we checked in the hotel and went up to our room to put the luggage down, we went to MGM Grand buffet and ate there for lunch/dinner. The next day, we went to an outlet. When we go to Las Vegas every year, my family and I always check out the Botanical Garden at Bellagio. It was so pretty and it was really crowded there. The next day, we went to go to an outlet. For dinner, we ended up eating at Cafe Bellagio. I've never tried that restaurant before, so I was excited. The food was really good and the dessert was amazing. The last day, we went to another outlet. For dinner, we ate at the Wicked Spoon, which is a buffet located in the hotel Cosmopolitan. Not only their food is amazing, but they have a variety of desserts. They even have gluten-free options too! I think Wicked Spoon is probably my favorite buffet. At night, we walked around the strip and just enjoyed the nice lights. Even though it was cold and some days were windy, my family and I had a wonderful Christmas there. I hope one day that I can go and count down there on New Year's Eve, even though it's definitely going to packed with people. I feel like it would be really fun to spend the new year there with a bunch of people. Hope you had a nice Christmas, New Years, or whatever holiday you celebrate!
