November 13,2015: A Day That Will Go Down in History

Today, I'm going to be talking about something different. On the evening of November 13, 2015 in Paris, France, there were a series of terrorist attacks. These attacks consisted of shootings, bombings, and hostage taking. The targeted places were the Bataclan Concert Hall, Stade de France, Le Petit Combodge, Rue de Charonne. Rue de la Fountaine au Roi, and more. 

The most devastating shooting was at the Bataclan Concert Hall, where the US rock band Eagles of Death Metal were performing for around 1,500 people. The band had played around five songs until an explosion was heard. When the crowd heard the explosion, they thought it was just part of the concert and didn't worry about it. Around 9:45 p.m, supposedly four men came into the concert with guns. They shouted something and then opened fire into the crowd. One of the witnesses reported that the attackers also threw grenades into the crowd. They held hostages and if anyone moved, they would kill them one by one. A radio reporter said that the attackers reloaded their guns around three or four times. Between the times when they were reloading their guns, people were trying to escape. The shooting at the concert hall supposedly ended at 12:58 a.m.

At the Stade de France, Germany and France were having a soccer game. Three explosions were heard, but the players continued their game. President Francois Hollande was actually at the game, but once the explosion was heard, he had to immediately evacuate. After, fans that watched the game had to stay until it was safe to go outside.

Later that night, President Francois Hollande had an emergency meeting about these incidents. He closed all borders. Paris turned off the Eiffel Tower's lights due to these attacks to remember more than 100 victims who lost their lives. Countries around the world supported France and had lights be the colors red, white, and blue to represent the French flag.
